Kakslauttanen - Finland

Unforgettable ski trip under the Northern light

This is definitely one of those places you must see once in your life. This resort is located in Finland’s part of Lapland, the country of Santa Claus. The official hometown of Santa, Rovaniemi, is about 3 hours far from the resort by bus.
Kakslauttanen is in pure wild nature, but the nearest airport is just 30 minutes by bus, so you can arrive there easily. There are excellent roads in Lapland too, so you can travel by your own car if you prefer.
The ski season is very long, from October until May. Northern light, which you probably will see from your bed (from late August until early April), makes this place magical and unforgettable.
Some people may not know that this place can be visited all year round. All seasons are different, but each is fabulous in its own way. In summer, from April until late August, you can not see Aurora Borealis, but you can enjoy the famous Midnight sun and go picking delicious and healthy wild berries and mushrooms.

In this resort, you can choose between tree houses, holiday homes, or luxury tents. 

It is located directly at the valley station of the Vorhegg family ski area with a double chair lift, a tow lift, and two practice lifts. In Kötschach-Mauthen alone there are almost 60 km of groomed cross-country ski trails for all levels of difficulty. If you are looking for a change on the slopes, you can drive (with the free ski bus, approx. 25 minutes) to Nassfeld, one of the most popular ski areas in Carinthia. 

If you want a peaceful, relaxed holiday, you can walk through the snow-covered landscape on one of the eight marked winter hiking trails. 

The ski season in Austria starts in December and usually last until the beginning of May.

Three kings is located on 1,200 and 1,347 m. There are 2.8 km of slopes available for skiing and snowboarding with 2 transport lifts.

 

The Mariborsko Pohorje has more than 40 km of well-maintained slopes The tracks are at altitudes from 325 m to 1327 m. Offers 36 km of trails for cross-country skiing. The tracks are connected by 4 chairlifts, 16 cable cars, and 1 circular cable car.

 

Rogla is located at 1517m above sea level. It has well-prepared ski slopes and ski-run tracks with over 100 days of skiing thanks to both natural snow and snow machines. It has 12km of ski slopes and 18km of cross-country slopes.
For boarders, there is Fun Park consisting of a half-pipe in the upper part and 15 slopestyle elements for free-stylers and snowboarders. There are two big air ski jumps just before the finish line.
